How to Fix Picsdk.dll Not Found Error

Picsdk.dll is a part of the EasyPrintModule from Epson. This file may be found under Common on the installation disc.

Error Message:

This application has failed to start because PICSDK.dll was not found.

Resolution:

A difficulty many users have encountered is the insistence of Epson technical support that the picsdk.dll is a Windows file. However, users have found the file on the Epson installation CD.

Various methods have been proposed to solve this error.  The suggested solutions are listed below.

Method 1

  1. Use a file extractor to extract the picsdk.dll from data1.cab and data2.cab.
  2. Add the picsdk.dll to the installation folder for EPSON Print CD.


Method 2

  1. Open PrintCD.
  2. Select File then select Print.
  3. Select Manual Print.
  4. Select your printer from the drop down list.
  5. Now select Properties.
  6. Source must be set to Manual.
  7. Type should be set to CD/DVD.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK again.
  10. Wait for the CD to print.


Method 3

You will need access to an earlier OS installation of the software.

  1. Run the PrintCD installation from the Epson installation CD in Windows Vista.
  2. Right click on the PrintCD shortcut.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Go to the Compatibility tab.
  5. Check Run this program in compatibility mode for.
  6. Select the OS where an earlier version is installed.
  7. Click Apply and then click OK.
  8. Search for picsdk.dll in the drive where the earlier version is stored.
  9. Copy and paste picsdk.dll into your Windows Vista directory.


Method 4

This fix is for a new Vista install without a printer.

  1. Plug in the USB port Epson Stylus Photo R200.
  2. Select Vista setup own windows driver in Printers.
  3. Setup PrintCD 1.50A. This file can be found in many sharing websites.
  4. Download picsdk.dll or copy the file from another machine.
  5. Copy picsdk.dll to the Windows folder.

Method 5

  1. Install only the PrintCD using the Custom Install option.
  2. Wait for the install to finish.
  3. When the installation is done, right click on the desktop icon.
  4. Select Properties.
  5. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  6. Check XP SP2 in the Run in mode.
  7. Open PrintCD.
  8. When ready to print, select Manual.
  9. Select A4 for Size and CD/DVD for Source.
  10. Click OK.
