This gapi32.dll error typically occurs because Norton WinDoctor is unable to locate the gapi32.dll file.

If you are not experiencing any problem with Windows or any other program, it is safe to ignore the above error message. You can do this by configuring Norton WinDoctor settings to ignore this error:

To achieve this, perform the following steps:

  2. Next, right-click the error message and then click the Ignore Selected Problem option.

The error given below may occur when you run Norton WinDoctor on a Windows XP computer:

“C:\Windows\System32\Mapisrvr.exe" cannot access a necessary file, "Gapi32.dll"”

Cause of the Error

This gapi32.dll error occurs on Windows XP when WinDoctor is unable to locate the gapi32.dll file in the Windows\System32 folder.

If you try to use WinDoctor to repair the above error, WinDoctor reports back that it cannot locate the gapi32.dll file, even when the file is present on your hard disk.

You can fix this issue by using either of the following methods:

Method 1: Copy the gapi32.dll file to Windows\System32 folder

To achieve this, perform the following steps:

  5. Right-click the System32 folder and click Paste.
  6. Restart your computer.

Method 2: Configure WinDoctor to ignore the above error
