When opening Microsoft Outlook, you may receive one of the following error messages:
The add-in C:\PROGRA~1\hotbar\bin\499~1.0\SBOLExt.dll could not be installed or loaded.
The Add-In C:\Progra~1\Spambl~1\Bin\477~1.0\SBOLExt.dll could not be installed or loaded.
These error messages will affect your Outlook from opening properly.
Cause:
Sbolext.dll related errors are caused by a Windows Anti-Spam program.
Resolution
How to Fix Sbolext.dll Error
- Open Outlook.
- Go to Tools on the top of the page.
- Next, go to Options.
- Click on the Other tab.
- Now click on the Advanced Options button.
- A window will open.
- Click on Add-In Manager.
- Uncheck Windows Anti-Spam.
- Click OK on all open windows.
- Close Outlook.
Variation:
You may use these variations if the above instructions do not remove the error for you.
- Make sure that Outlook is closed.
- Locate and delete the extend.dat file.
- Open Outlook.
Another option you can try is to uncheck Spam Blocker for MS Outlook. If the error occurs in conjunction with a redemption.dll error, you should also uncheck Redemption Helper Outlook Extension.
If you are on Microsoft Outlook 2007, the instructions are different as the location of Spam Blocker is different.
- Open Outlook.
- Go to Tools on the top of the page.
- Click on Trust Center.
- A window will open.
- Go to Add-ins.
- Go to the Manage box.
- Click on Exchange Client Extensions.
- Click Go.
- Uncheck Spam Blocker.
- Click OK.
