How to Fix Versioncueui.dll Error

Versioncueui.dll is a Version Cue UI that belongs to Adobe Systems Incorporated.

Error Message

You may get this error message when you start up Adobe Photoshop or when you open images from Photoshop while on Windows XP or Windows Vista.

A failed Version Cue update or a failed Photoshop installation may cause this error.


This error may be resolved by one of the fixes suggested below. Perform the suggested methods in the order they are given. Restart the application after performing each method to test if the problem still persists. If the issue is still present, proceed to the next method. If the issue disappears, proceed to the installation of the Version Cue CS3 Client.

Updates may be downloaded from the Adobe website.

Solution 1 ? Removing the Version Cue CS3 Client

  1. Exit all CS3 applications.
  2. Delete:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\Client\3.1.0\ folder
    \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\Client\3.0.0.patches
    \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\Client\build.txt

Solution 2 ? Removing the Version Cue CS3 Client and Repairing Program Installation

  1. Close all CS3 applications.
  2. Delete the folder for \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\Client\.
  3. Using Add/Remove Programs or the Programs and Features Control Panel, launch the installation for Adobe CS3 applications or Suite that you have installed.
  4. Choose Install or Reinstall.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Follow the on screen instructions.

Solution 3 ? Uninstalling the Error Producing Program, Removing Remaining Files for Version Cue and Reinstalling the Program

This method will require you to backup your Version Cue Server repositories. This is necessary if you have Version Cue CS3 Server on your computer.

The default location for the repositories is /Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS3/Server/.

  1. Close all CS3 applications.
  2. Using Add/Remove Programs or the Programs and Features Control Panel, launch the installation for Adobe CS3 applications or Suite that you have installed.
  3. Select Remove.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to completely remove the Adobe CS3 applications or Suite installed.
  6. Check if the following folders have been removed. If the problem occurs other than in Photoshop, make sure that the program folder for each application has been removed.\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS3\
    \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\
  7. If the folders are still present, remove them.
  8. Shutdown your computer.
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. Reinstall your programs using the original installation media.

Some applications or services may cause conflicts when running concurrently with an installer. To avoid this, disable all other applications and services before installing the update for Version Cue CS3 Client. Be sure to include Startup items.

  1. Quit all applications.
  2. Go to Start and then go to Run.
  3. Type in msconfig in the Open box.
  4. Press Enter.
  5. Go to the Startup and Services tab.
  6. Write down all unselected items.
  7. Go to the General tab.
  8. Select Selective startup.
  9. Deselect Load Startup items.
  10. System.ini, Process WIN.INI and Load System Services should be checked.
  11. Click the Services tab.
  12. Select Hide All Microsoft Services.
  13. Click on Disable All.
  14. Now reselect FLEXnet Licensing Service.
  15. Click OK.
  16. Restart Windows.

Close or disable active startup items by right clicking on the icons in the Notification Area or System Tray.

If you get a notification message that the System Configuration Utility has made changes to the way that Windows starts up, click OK. Then click Cancel when the System Configuration Utility comes up.

Re-enable Startup Items and Services

  1. Go to Start and then go to Run.
  2. Click OK.
  3. A box will come up.
  4. Type in msconfig.
  5. Press OK.
  6. Select Normal Startup.
  7. Deselect the items you wrote down in the previous set of instructions.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Reboot your PC.

Your account may lack sufficient privileges to install updates or permissions or your account may be damaged.? If this is the case, you can create a new local administrator account, log into this account and then install Version Cue CS3 Client Updates.
